The shape of 1780 stays emphasized the waist and hips of a woman's figure. Shortly after this fashion trend , the empire style dress became popular and changed the shape of corsetry--at least for a while--with emphasis on the bust and an undefined waistline. I find the contour and lines of the 1780 corset quintessentially feminine and beautiful.
